Genentech Biotechnology Manufacturing Facility

Genentech's commercial scale biotechnology manufacturing facility is Singapore’s first microbial-based facility for biotherapeutics.

The plant is built on a 12 hectare greenfield site at Tuas Biomedical Park.

The facility contains:

  • Production and cleaning utilities
  • Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment
  • Administration
  • Facility utilities
  • Warehouse
  • External infrastructure includes substation, waste inactivation, industrial gases, portable water storage and firewater system.

Faithful+Gould was appointed as quantity surveyor for the project. Our scope of works covered a range of services including estimates, tender analysis, cost reporting and variation.

The Challenge

A particular feature of the project is the process equipment, which was fabricated in twenty-four modules, constructed in Charleston, South Carolina, USA, shipped to Singapore in two batches through the Suez canal, and installed on site within one month.

Completed in Q4 2008.
