More than 60 years of constructive enterprise
Eric Faithful and Leonard Gould first formed their partnership in the UK in 1947 as they helped repair Bristol after it was heavily bombed in the Second World War.
In the 1960s Faithful+Gould expanded by opening new offices around the UK.
Then in 1967 we worked with Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) to provide cost valuation and management services on all ICI sites in the UK – leading to yet more growth and further office openings.
During the next 30 years we were involved in some mammoth projects including the Selby coal pit in 1975.
In 1983 we took another big leap forwards, utilising our mechanical and electrical engineering expertise to win a contract with British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) at Thorpe for a fuel re-processing plant – at the time the biggest construction project in Europe.
Throughout the 1990s we grew our property presence rapidly through a spree of major acquisitions such as Silk & Frazier and Yeoman & Edwards.
In 1996 we joined the Atkins group, the UK’s largest engineering and design firm and the fourth largest multi disciplinary consultancy in the world.
We then purchased Hanscomb in 2002, which provided a strong springboard into the American market.
Today we are one of the world’s largest project and cost management consultancies, employing more than 2,000 staff with offices spread throughout the UK, Europe, the Middle East and India, North America and the Asia Pacific region.
