City of Academia, Oman

Umniyat, an Omani based company, is developing the ‘City of Academia' in Nizwa.

The university campus will provide:

• High quality living for academic staff, researchers and students alike;
• Well established international university faculties in much needed fields in the Sultanate of Oman;
• State-of-the-art support facilities such as libraries, sports facilities, shopping, leisure and medical facilities.

The project includes all associated infrastructure works.

The approach

Faithful+Gould has been awarded the first phase of works; to provide cost estimates and options during the master planning of the city.

Our role as cost consultant covers:

• Pre-contract cost management / quantity surveying services
• Option costing for various designs 
• Comparison of cost / programme implications for various building methods
  

The challenge

We will be working to a tight timeframe, with just 18 weeks to deliver the order of magnitude based on the master plan documents.
