Atkins expands with PBSJ acquisition
Atkins Chief Executive Keith Clarke today announced the company's intention to acquire PBSJ,
a 3,500 strong engineering and design firm headquartered in Tampa, Florida, U.S.
This acquisition forms part of Atkins' plan to become the world's best infrastructure consultancy by adding deep technical skills and a strong management team to enable it to grow in the U.S. market. PBSJ complements the Atkins business and adds skills in environmental, transportation and program management disciplines.
PBSJ was founded in 1960 and is one of America's leading providers of engineering, planning, architecture, construction, environmental and program management services.
Today, PBSJ has a reputation for technical excellence and quality and operates from 80 offices in the U.S. In the Engineering News-Record, it ranks as follows:

- 14 in the Top 20 for Water

The acquisition is subject to approval from PBSJ shareholders and other regulatory conditions.
