A green courthouse for Miami-Dade County, FL
Faithful+Gould has recently completed design-phase cost management services on the Miami-Dade Children's Courthouse, Miami, Florida.
In 2009, this $328 million project cleared a major hurdle when construction was finally approved - a major relief after the county put a stop order on the project for nearly a year. Faithful+Gould is now looking forward to providing on-call change order review services throughout the up and coming construction phase.
Faithful+Gould was brought on board by global architecture firm HOK
. As part of the project team we have developed the early budgets, estimates and a cost loaded schedule. In addition we facilitated a value engineering workshop.
371,000 ft2 and 14 stories tall, the Children's Courthouse will serve the community, families and children of Miami-Dade County, Florida. It will house the juvenile delinquency, dependency and family courts, alongside the 17 separate agencies that serve children's needs.
The facility is expected to be LEED® certified due to a number of the design features. Among numerous other ''green'' elements these include:
- An energy-saving skin
- High-efficiency water systems
- Extensive use of natural light
- A park-like public plaza
- Bike racks and showers
- A green roof and the use of recycled materials
