Cytec Engineered Materials - Carbon Fiber Plant, Greenville, SC
Cytec Engineered Materials, a business unit of Cytec Industries Inc., is building a new carbon fiber plant with a capital cost of over $200 million.
Faithful+Gould is providing project controls support on the project, which has progressed through the exploration, assessment and definition phases.
Beginning in April 2007, these phases included the site selection assessment, development of the business case, cost estimate and definition engineering.
Subsequent project phases under Cytec's project stage gate approach include:
- Execution - detailed engineering, procurement and construction
- Commissioning and start-up
This project is a major capital investment for Cytec and represents a significant portion of Cytec's overall capital investment plan.
We are providing support through a combination of:
- Independent consult studies
- Staff for long-term project augmentation
- Provision of template documents such as contracts and processes
- Project controls systems
- Cost management system
- Set-up of planning system P6
We are also helping to develop project controls processes and skill-sets within Cytec for future capital projects.
The services we provide build on the EPC contractor's project controls efforts to provide validation and assurance for what is a significant undertaking for Cytec.
