Code for Sustainable Homes Assessments

The UK Government has made obtaining a rating against the Code for Sustainable Homes mandatory for all new dwellings.

Code for Sustainable Homes Assessments can only be carried out by accredited Code assessors.

Faithful+Gould and Atkins(this is an external link and will open in a new window) have an established team of accredited Code for Sustainable Homes assessors.

What is the Code for Sustainable Homes?

The Code for Sustainable Homes measures the sustainability of new dwellings.

The Code uses a 1 to 6 star rating system to indicate the overall sustainability performance of a new dwelling. The Code sets minimum standards for energy and water use at each level.

The Code level rating is calculated based on the number of credits awarded for:

  • Energy and CO2 emissions
  • Water
  • Materials
  • Surface water run-off
  • Waste
  • Pollution
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Management and ecology
