What is LEED?
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a voluntary standard for rating the sustainability of buildings.
LEED was first developed in the US, and is based on US standards, but has been applied internationally in 69 countries to date. The LEED standard is administered by the U.S. Green Building Council
.
LEED is essentially a detailed list of criteria (known as ‘credits') against which the ‘greenness' of a building is judged.
The number of LEED credits attained translates into an overall ‘rating' for the building as either: Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum.
LEED Accredited Professionals
LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) are trained and qualified assessors who can guide a project team through the application of the LEED standard to a building project.
The LEED professional accreditation program is independently administered under the Green Building Certification Institute
.
