This event will provide guidance and information to property professionals on statutory duties relating to fire safety.
Compliance with current regulations goes some way towards protecting life and property in the event of fire. However a comprehensive fire risk assessment of a building provides a tool to mitigate risks.
Speakers from the National House Building Council
(NHBC) will review the requirements of the current Building Regulations, typical examples of poor design, and the issues at Lakanal House, Southwark. Hosts Faithful+Gould will outline requirements under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (SI 2005/1541), and describe the standard for good fire risk assessments (FRAs) and management action plans (MAPs).

In conjunction with the CIOB, Sean Lockie, Director of Sustainability at Faithful+Gould, will discuss the practical guide to using BREEAM on projects and a strategy on maximising the BREEAM score.
Sean will go on to discuss the guide 'Putting a Price on Sustainable Schools', the research having been provided by Faithful+Gould and BRE.
