Business Boom Sees Recruits Flock to Faithful+Gould

A surge in demand for the services of the northern region of international project management and cost consultants Faithful+Gould has increased so much recently that eight new staff have been appointed.

Senior health and safety consultant Glenn Hutchison, who has joined the Newcastle office, is looking forward to the involvement and influence he will have over co-ordinating major construction works. Currently working on an £80 million residential tower re-development for Camden Council in London, his new role has given him the opportunity to broaden his experience as well as being able to develop new business and take on more management duties. Speaking about his appointment, Glenn said:

“I believe my future with Faithful+Gould will enable me to help develop the business further. Its great support network and ethos were also really attractive to me; you’re always fully supported through each project.”

With a broad base of experience gained across the construction sector, Anna Aikenhead who joined as a CDM co-ordinator and health and safety consultant is the latest addition to the office. Bringing with her a balanced perspective of how the parties involved in the delivery of a project interact, she is currently working on the £110 million Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor which will provide access from the A19 to the Port of Sunderland. Anna said:

Paul Hutchinson also joins Faithful+Gould’s ranks as a CDM co-ordinator and health and safety consultant. Bringing with him 14 years’ relevant industry experience to the Stockton office, his knowledge of managing multi-site construction projects and the implementation of effective safety systems, coupled with excellent site management and communication skills, make him a highly strategic addition to the Faithful+Gould team.

Peter Jude has taken up the position of building surveyor in the Newcastle office, working on the high profile £3 million Durham University project on a world leading centre called The Institute for Hazard and Risk Research (IHR²). Currently in the last year of his degree at Northumbria University, which Faithful+Gould is sponsoring, Peter has ambitions to become chartered in the next few years and is enjoying the variety of his new role.

Three years into his quantity surveying degree, Andrew Horsman has taken up a position on Faithful+Gould’s student placement programme. This will see him working on bills of quantities, cost estimates and cost plans as well as undertaking site visits to meet with contractors. He said:

“I really wanted to work for Faithful+Gould as it has such a great reputation within the industry for spending quality time with its staff during the training process. What really excites me about my role is the differences between projects, visiting sites, seeing a project being realised over a period of time and knowing that you have played your part in making it happen.”

In addition, Niina Kuusanniemi-Abbotts has taken up the position of assistant quantity surveyor in Stockton. Currently based on a Northumbrian Water site where she is working in the water rehabilitation team, Niina is looking forward to gaining experience of commercial and contractual issues as well as progressing her career into project management.

Newcastle based trainee quantity surveyor, Anthony Monaghan, will also be working on a wide variety of Northumbrian Water projects. Anthony joined Faithful+Gould because of its excellent reputation in the industry for the quality of quantity surveying service it provides. He is also undertaking part time study, sponsored by Faithful+Gould, to become a quantity surveyor.

“I hope that upon completing my year placement here I would be regarded as a good quantity surveyor and would be offered a place at Faithful+Gould once my studies are complete.”
