Nottingham University Samworth Academy (NUSA) is a joint venture between University of Nottingham and local businessman, David Samworth.

The new academy is being built on the site of the former William Sharpe School. The 3 storey 9,000m2 school will accommodate 950 students from the ages of 11 to 16 and will specialise in health and sciences.

The new buildings will provide facilities fit for a 21st century education. It will have a welcoming entrance and designed to ensure a safe and secure environment for all students and staff. The learning zones will have a variety of rooms of different sizes and independent learning areas for individual or small group work.

The building will also incorporate:

  • Suites of Apple Mac computers
  • Video editing equipment
  • Recording studio and a suite of music technology rooms
  • 300-seat, state-of-the-art lecture theatre
  • Internet café
  • Sports facilities including an imaginatively designed fitness trail and a fully-fitted multigym

The design of the academy ensures that there will be access for all regardless of any special needs.
