GlaxoSmithKline - Planning Services

Project

  • To provide planning engineering services for over five years and continue to support GSK’s Master Plan and the Major Projects Production, Research and Development departments of GlaxoSmithKline and at Barnard Castle, County Durham.
  • To develop GSK’s Major Projects Department Planning System and Procedural Processes. The appointment has also involved developing shutdown planning on the production site, to reduce time and cost during shutdown activities.

The Approach

  • Careful scheduling, to ensure that the proposed workload has been planned effectively.
  • Established, monitored and maintained client resource profiles to ensure sufficient expert skills have been available to execute the projects successfully.

The Challenge

  • To establish and maintain planning systems and procedures to support the World Wide Strategic Master Plan and Barnard Castle Major Projects Group.

Outcome

  • Over this time period GSK Barnard Castle have rationalised their production facilities as part of the overall Business Strategy, whilst some products have been transferred away from the facility, new products have been incorporated into the existing facility at Barnard Castle. Robust schedules and procedures have been developed to support the sites and project requirements.
