The Ministry of Justice's capacity programme requires 9,500 new prison places to be created by 2012.

For each prison expansion project, our project management service can include:

  • The addition of new 120 or 180 place Category B house blocks
  • The complete replacement of site-wide general alarm and cell call facilities
  • New education and training buildings
  • The upgrade of key internal functions such as the kitchens, visits, gatehouse, reception, healthcare and administration offices.

The expansion projects are taking place without interrupting the existing services, and within extremely demanding timescales to meet the requirements of the capacity programme.
