Nottingham City Primary Care Trust (PCT)

Project

Environmental conservation works, 6 facet surveys, mechanical and electrical improvements.

To provide information regarding suggested environmental (conservation) works, outstanding building and statutory works from the facet surveys, and mechanical and electrical improvements to 10 Nottingham City Primary Care Trust (PCT) health centres.

The 6 facet surveys covered:

Mechanical and electrical improvement works.

The prioritisation of works.

Production of a cost summation for the works identified.

Close-up of a tape measure being used on a building site

The approach

  • Following meetings with the PCT, we discussed the options available to enable compliance with the relevant guidance.
  • We complied with the guidance stated in Health Building Note 00-08 – Estatecode to undertake the surveys and produce the report.
  • We complied with the guidance stated in Land & Property Appraisal 2007 edition.

The challenge

  • The main challenge faced by the team was coordinating access around working buildings. Access needed to be gained out of hours, at a time which suited the occupiers of the buildings.
  • Coordination of other specialist surveyors to comply with the Estatecode to provide accurate survey results.

Outcome

  • All aspects of the survey were successfully completed within the timescales stipulated by the PCT.
  • We provided accurate, up to date information to enable the PCT to determine their liabilities with regard to Environmental 7 statutory responsibilities.
