Project

The development comprised:

  • The asbestos removal and demolition of 3 blocks of three storey flats, and
  • The construction of 70 one and two bedroom flats complete with communal facilities such as lounges, assisted bathrooms, commercial kitchen, care team offices and a day care centre.

Faithful+Gould is one of Methodist Homes' preferred consultants and was appointed to provide employer's agent, partnering facilitation and planning supervisor services on this £6 million project.

The approach

The scheme was procured via a JCT Design and Build contract incorporating a partnering charter with the main contractor being fully involved from the pre-contract design stage to completion.

The scheme incorporated modern methods of construction.

Outcome

  • The scheme was completed 4 weeks early and within budget. It provides luxurious accommodation for local residents who are either frail or suffer with dementia.
  • Faithful+Gould has also successfully completed extra care housing developments and care homes for Methodist Homes at Huddersfield, Ripley and Coventry.
