Various multi-million pound flood defence commissions on a national basis.

The approach

• Due to the environmental sensitivity of the flood defence schemes, a close working relationship has been established between Faithful+Gould’s team, The Environment Agency and the various other bodies involved.
• Some schemes have involved construction in an SSSI protected area, for which we have been instrumental in discussions with English Nature.

• Reconstruction, temporary, and permanent works were necessary to replace existing flood defences.

Outcome

Flood defence schemes using our project management, cost consultancy and planning supervision teams have successfully implemented the re-direction of rivers, the construction of control structures, weirs and bunds.

In addition, completed projects include:

• the replacement of existing flood defences;
• reconstruction of, and extensions to, outfall structures; and
• enhancement of existing erosion protection to embankments.
