The Rock Triangle, Bury
Faithful+Gould is appointed as quantity surveyors on the mixed use re-development of Bury town centre in Lancashire.
The development will provide 506,000ft2 of retail accommodation, including:
- A 103,000ft2 Debenhams department store
- A 77,000ft2 Marks & Spencer department store
- 8 flagship stores
- 60 further retail units
The main retail street at The Rock will extend the existing high street linking Market Place with the new main town square.
The open streets will provide a single level streetscape environment with double height shop fronts. The streetscape is being created through nearly 200,000ft2 of site works.
In addition to retail accommodation, a 10 screen cinema and a 24 lane bowling and entertainment centre are being constructed. These are further complemented by 8 restaurant units.
Construction methods
A range of construction techniques are being employed, with a mix of steel and concrete frames and a large palette of cladding materials from facing brickwork and render to stainless steel shingles and twisted perforated kalzip (a standing seam roofing and wall cladding system).
Residential apartments
Situated over the retail units and split over 3 of the 5 main buildings within the development, 408 residential apartments with a mix of studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom accommodation are being constructed.
Parking
A 1,250 space multi-storey car park also forms part of the development.
