6 facet surveys

A 6 facet survey is a multi-faceted survey which enables an appraisal of an NHS Trust's Estate and provides a snapshot of the physical condition of individual buildings, which can inform the Estates Strategy

The results of the survey can be used to determine and manage backlog maintenance, along with measuring risk in relation to sub-standard assets so that investment can be prioritised. Once the risk associated with sub-standard elements has been assessed, capital investment can be targeted.

We have a strong working relationship with NHS Trusts, use comprehensive maintenance planning systems and have a team with diverse experience.

Assessments

Assessments are carried out in accordance with NHS ‘Estatecode'.

Due to the different requirements of NHS organisations, we provide three levels of survey;

1.  Baseline assessment for developing estate strategy - a high-level appraisal on a site or block basis.

2.  Detailed assessment for operation maintenance purposes - an appraisal on a block or room basis.

3.  Service review on a departmental basis - an appraisal on a room-by-room basis.

Our experienced team of surveyors are able to carry out assessments of each element/sub-element. We are experienced in interviewing NHS staff to formulate the repaired outputs.

We can produce a wide variety of bespoke reports to show current and impending backlog costs, and have surveyors with experience of NHS databases such as MiCad.

Record photographs are taken of non-compliant elements/sub-elements which can be utilised within the report to substantiate the defect and aid identification/location for use by estate maintenance engineers.

Where existing information is not available we can collect the information and produce CAD plans in AutoCAD or other formats.

Confidentiality and security

Whilst collecting site information our experienced surveyors demonstrate discretion, as certain areas of the estate/trust are case sensitive and need to abide by the Trust's guidance for patient/client confidentiality.

Where required, our surveyors are inducted into the estates maintenance department as well as showing their identity passes to avoid security breaches, and to comply with estates' standard terms of practice.

We have a team of male and female surveyors, which is particularly advantageous where access may be limited to single sex environments.
