Measured Surveys

A floor plan Measured surveys provide building owners or occupiers with accurate as-built 2D and 3D records of their property portfolio.

We produce measured surveys for clients throughout the UK within the commercial, industrial, education, government, security, retail and financial sectors.

General drawing standards provide for rooms and areas, wall positions and thicknesses, door and window positions, room use or categorisation, building groups or blocks, internal areas, associated external landscaping, and site boundaries, and more.

The completed drawings can be used as a basis for many purposes, including:

  • Asset management
  • Space planning
  • Facilities management
  • Building alterations
  • Refurbishment

Floor plans

We can provide floor plans with varying levels of detail - from simple walls, columns, doors and windows surveyed, to a fully detailed data set including all 3D information (such as sill and head heights, door heights and ceiling heights).

As part of our measured surveys we can also highlight other information such as:

  • Electrical and data points
  • Light fittings
  • Sanitary fittings
  • Fire fighting and detection equipment
  • Security equipment
  • Furniture arrangements
  • Signage

Elevation drawings

Accurate elevation drawings can be produced using reflectorless capabilities of the total stations. The level of detail can range from simple opening outlines to a fully detailed and architecturally accurate representation.

Topographic survey drawings

Equipped with the latest Total Station and GPS technology we are able to produce highly accurate and detailed topographic survey drawings. If required, additional information can be provided including tracing and locating existing services below ground level.

Equipment and process

All measured surveys involve a physical site survey to collate and record the necessary information. All information is quickly and accurately captured on site using the latest Leica(this is an external link and will open in a new window) digital surveying equipment.

The type of equipment used on any given project is wholly dependent on the specification and type of property or site concerned.

For measured building surveys we would normally use Leica Disto handheld laser measuring devices, in conjunction with a Leica 1200 series total station for control. For site / land surveys, again we would use a Leica 1200 series total station, either with or without GPS control.

The information is then transformed into CAD drawings. All files can be delivered in either 2D or 3D format, along with hard copy plans. All measured survey data is accompanied by a full set of digital photographs.
