CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is a new carbon emissions cap and trade scheme for the UK.
The scheme starts in April 2010. All organisations with an approximate energy bill of £500,000 PA will be affected, and some with lower annual bills will also be required to register.
The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme works by placing a price on carbon emissions. In the introductory 3 year phase from 2010, this price will be fixed at £12 per tonne CO2. After 3 years, carbon allowances will be auctioned and the price will be dictated by the market.
How we can help
We provide services to enable organisations to choose an economically viable path between low carbon and reasonable cost.
We can help simplify the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme process, prepare you for Registration and annual reporting and help you develop a long term strategy for carbon reduction.
Our dedicated team of carbon experts, supported by RICS accredited building surveyors, highly skilled project managers, and commercial experts, can help you collect and interpret energy data, plan and implement metering improvement programmes and engage with staff at all levels
We can help you develop a carbon strategy which:
- identifies opportunities for energy saving and carbon reduction;
- assesses the cost and carbon impact of investments in energy efficiency or low carbon fuels and life cycle costs;
- helps you understand the cost benefits of investing in energy efficiency as the market price of allowances changes; and
- considers the impacts of future growth and changes to your property portfolio on future CRC compliance.
We offer a suite of cost and carbon reduction services tailored to the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme under two key stages:
