Project
- The J. Paul Getty Trust, a $6 billion international and philanthropic foundation that focuses on the arts and humanities, selected Faithful+Gould to oversee construction of the $1 billion Getty Center in Los Angeles, CA.
- The 110-acre hilltop complex is home to the Getty Museum, the Getty Research Institute and the Getty Conservation Institute.
- The Getty Museum features a permanent collection of European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, decorative arts, and American and European photographs.
The Approach
- HF&G personnel analyzed and evaluated the cost and construction feasibility of the project, including a comprehensive review of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural systems for the architect.
- HF&G also advised the architect and owner at planned milestone points on cost management initiatives to keep the project on time and within budget.
The Challenge
- Located in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, the project encompasses more than 1.2 million square feet of floor space in six major structures.
Outcome
- The project was completed on time and within budget.
