Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, Los Angeles, CA
The Nokia Theatre, in downtown Los Angeles, forms the first part of the L.A LIVE Complex, L.A.'s answer to New York City's Times Square.
Faithful+Gould provided a full range of project management services for a 3,700ft2 branding wall located inside the Theatre.
The branding wall represents the flagship theme, though at a grander scale.
The light wall towers four storeys in the atrium, and wraps around all four sides to show LCD screens on the individual floors where more specific phone information and interactivity is available. From wherever you go in the lobby areas throughout the Theatre, Nokia is present on all floors and simply dominates this area in a subtle and elegant fashion.

The approach
- Managing the budget throughout the project
- Managing the design and engineering process ensuring that both the client and the developers' designers worked in tandem
- Managing the local authority expectations and permit requirements
- Leading the procurement of the vendors both locally and globally
- Managing the schedule of the accommodating works, the installation of the wall itself and the commissioning phase through to the opening night
The challenge
- The project presented many hurdles including building the infrastructure for the branding wall after the main structure was already complete. The wall needed to be built within very tight and controlled conditions due to escalators, and within local union agreements.
- We also coordinated with vendors from all over the world to bring the wall together in a timely fashion and allow commissioning and close out works to both the wall and the main project itself.
Outcome
- Faithful+Gould’s involvement delivered an innovative and elegant feature to the 7,100-seat music venue. The Theatre opened on October 18, 2007 and hosted the Dixie Chicks and the Eagles on its opening night and hosted the 2007 American Music Awards.
- The Nokia Theatre has redirected the focus of L.A. entertainment from all around to Downtown.
