In the past several months, Faithful+Gould has secured two new contracts with ComEd to provide project management and construction management services for the client’s 2016/2017 Distribution, Transmission and Substation Projects. ComEd is a subsidiary to the Exelon Corporation, America’s leading competitive energy provider. Exelon’s utilities serve millions of electric and gas customers across the country. ComEd, also commonly known as Commonwealth Edison, is Exelon’s largest electric utility in Illinois, serving the Chicago and Northern Illinois area. The two master services contracts that we were awarded are agreements through 2018 and 2020 to be a preferred PM and CM vendor to manage the distribution, transmission and substation projects from project issuance to completion, including engineering, construction, commissioning and project close-out phases.
"This is a great win for the Chicago office and Energy Sector. This broadens the client base in Chicago and increases our presence in the power market. This pursuit supports our gold sheet strategy and Carmelo and the Chicago team have put in the work for over 16 months to deliver this result," said Senior Vice President and Commercial Director Paul Lakin.

Business Development Manager Nancy Kiernan served as pursuit manager for these opportunities. She shared, "This Exelon pursuit is a great example of a sustained, focused and supported team effort to win the work.” She added, “In an effort to further develop the relationship, our team took the long term view of relationship building. We showed them our full skillsets and pursued specific assignments and roles across the country."
Exelon has been a key client for Faithful+Gould's Energy Sector dating back to 2008 when we provided an estimate review and validation for the new nuclear power generation project in Texas. It wasn’t until December 2014 that we found ourselves in a position to provide services again to Exelon, this time to ComEd, led out of our Chicago office. Our Chicago Managing Director Carmelo Torrisi who has a background in transmission and distribution (T&D) projects, offered himself to drive the project management services, which enabled us to secure the PM and CM services contracts.
After demonstrating the full spectrum of our skillsets to ComEd, we were recommended to provide project controls services to Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), an Exelon subsidiary, and Maryland’s largest gas and electric utility. As a subconsultant to Primera Engineers, we started this assignment in July 2015 with a planned completion of October 2016.
"This success was built from our relationship with Exelon and the great work we are doing for ComEd in Chicago and BGE in Baltimore."
Trevor Green, Faithful+Gould Senior Vice President and Energy Sector Lead
Last year, we also secured a separate Staffing Agreement under Pontoon to provide staff augmentation services to Exelon. This staffing agreement will run for four years, through 2020. In January 2016 our project controls services to BGE were rolled under this contract and we are now providing these services direct to the client.
As described above, we have truly diversified ourselves within the Exelon organization. We anticipate the two new managed services contracts providing project management and construction management to further elevate our profile within the Exelon organization.
Senior Vice President and Energy Sector Lead Trevor Green shared, “These recent wins are a great strategic result for us as we look to increase our involvement in long term programs and contracts with key clients such as Exelon. This success was built from our relationship with Exelon and the great work we are doing for ComEd in Chicago and BGE in Baltimore. This has been a true team effort involving our local operations, the Energy Sector Win Work team, T&D SMEs, and the commercial group in final negotiations. Now for the challenge of successfully delivering the work! Thanks and congratulations to Carmelo Torrisi, our account manager and all of our team for this great win.”
