Faithful+Gould Presents at WORKTECH 13 on Workplace Solutions

Mike LePostollec
On May 15, 2013, members of the Faithful+Gould team that worked with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) on its new home at the Philadelphia Navy Yard will present the project as a case study on innovative workplace solutions at WORKTECH 13.

Steve Bernstein and Andrea Shook of Faithful+Gould will introduce GSK’s “SMART Working” initiative and the ways it has fostered communication and efficiency at locations in the U.S. and overseas. Using the Navy Yard project as an example, they will discuss how Faithful+Gould helped prepare GSK employees for the change to an agile working environment. They will be joined by John Campbell and Julia Leahy of Francis Cauffman, the architectural firm that designed the interior fit-out of the space.

Employees who’ve spent their entire working lives in a traditional office environment are understandably skeptical of change, but once they see the benefits of agile working, they realize these environments are better equipped to support the way they work. We are excited about this conference and the opportunity to share our experiences with our peers in the industry.

The WORKTECH 13 conference, to be held May 15-16, 2013, in New York City, is a uniquely focused event that covers a mix of strategy, technology and property, to give attendees an in-depth understanding of the future of workplace solutions and how it affects their business. More than 250 senior professionals from real estate, facilities, technology, management and the design professions are expected to attend.

The Navy Yard project is the latest iteration of GSK’s “SMART Working” program utilizing agile working environments to meet the changing needs of their business. GSK’s new double LEED® Platinum certified building features open floor-plates with shared work stations for all team members and a range of meeting and social areas.  In addition to promoting communication and efficiency, this layout has allowed GSK to dramatically reduce its office square footage and operating costs.

Faithful+Gould provided comprehensive project management services, workplace consulting and change management on this project.
