Smart client relationship management and quality work are certainly paying off for our Strategic Facility Consulting (SFC) team. Since 2005, the SFC team has assessed the condition of hundreds of buildings for the District of Columbia Department of Real Estate Services (DRES). Building on our relationships with the District and with the goal of being a total solutions provider, we helped DRES develop a scope for energy audits in its 19-million-square-foot portfolio.
We have now been awarded two out of four contracts with DRES to provide energy assessment and analysis planning on multiple facilities. Using the iPlanTM Remote energy assessment software, the SFC team will perform on-site energy assessments through a direct contract as well as a consultant to 4Tell.
The purpose of this contract is to provide ASHRAE Level II Energy Audits to evaluate the condition of building envelopes and the performance of energy-consuming equipment (i.e. lighting, boilers, chillers, air handling systems and pumps). Related work includes evaluating the performance of the facilities' heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; identifying energy saving measures and estimating payback period; screening for opportunities for water conservation, storm water management, and renewable energy systems.
The Faithful+Gould iPlanTM solution will give District stakeholders a financial dashboard to monitor the energy health of each building analyzed and generate updated financial reports of current conditions and progress. Using the strategic expenditure plan resulting from our work, DRES will be able to implement an energy plan for its facilities that will save not only energy but tax dollars as well.
