Our New York office is one of the lead sponsors of the Architecture Institute of America (AIA) New York Chapter's exhibition: A Space Within: The National September 11 Memorial & Museum.
A Space Within: The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a public showcase of the 8 acre memorial and museum taking shape at the heart of the World Trade Center (WTC) site.
The exhibition, which includes new details of the memorial and museum plans, will contain models, construction photographs, renderings, drawings, videos and a series of public programs.
It will be on view at the Center for Architecture from June 25 to September 14, 2009.
A Space Within was organized by the AIA New York Chapter in partnership with the Center for Architecture Foundation and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.
After receiving over 5,000 submitted designs, the memorial jury selected "Reflecting Absence", which focuses on two sunken, one acre pools.
Filling the footprints of the Twin Towers, the pools are surrounded by the names of the nearly 3,000 victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the February 26, 1993, WTC bombing. In addition to the pools and memorial plaza, the memorial site is completed with a museum.
On June 25, 2009, the opening of the exhibition hosted more than 600 people. Our entire New York team was invited to attend the VIP reception, and special thanks were given to Faithful+Gould for our sponsorship of the exhibit and work on the World Trade Center Memorial.
