Bayes Centre provides a unique world-class home in the heart of Edinburgh for the pioneering work of the Data Technology Institute offering an unprecedented opportunity for external commercial, academic collaboration and innovation.
Faithful+Gould successfully led the project from the outset, becoming fully embedded in the University’s Estates team and by exemplifying a professional and pro-active approach at all times. The building now accommodates approximately 650 education professionals, in addition to a wide range of spaces to support open plan working, research partnerships and a number of dedicated robotics and state of the art data technology labs. The new hubs will help business and public sector organisations develop new innovations and technological advancements through collaboration with researchers and data analysts.
“It’s great to see this exciting project – backed by £30 million of UK Government funding – officially opened. The Bayes Centre will support the development of world leading technology, attract further investment to the region and support high value jobs for the future.”
David Mundell, Secretary of State for Scotland
The project is part of an ongoing investment in the University's estate, with a capital spend of £1.5billion over 10 years. The Centre is a pivotal piece of the estate set to transform Edinburgh city centre into one of UK’s most dynamic places for tech, attracting the highest calibre of international experts in data science and artificial intelligence.
