The J. Paul Getty Trust, a $6 billion international and philanthropic foundation that focuses on the arts and humanities, selected Faithful+Gould to oversee construction of the $1 billion Getty Center in Los Angeles, CA. The 110-acre hilltop complex is home to the Getty Museum, the Getty Research Institute and the Getty Conservation Institute. The Getty Museum features a permanent collection of European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, decorative arts, and American and European photographs. We analyzed and evaluated the cost and construction feasibility of the project, including a comprehensive review of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural systems for the architect. We also advised the architect and owner at planned milestones on cost management initiatives to keep the project on time and within budget. Located in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, the Getty Center encompasses more than 1.2 million square feet of floor space in six major structures. The project was completed on time and within budget.
