We have delivered crucial services during the planning, design and construction phases of the $543-million capital improvement program at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California. The program covers:
New Terminal C: 282,000 square feet with six new gates and facilities for six commuter aircrafts, new international arrivals area and U.S. Customs and Federal Inspection Services (FIS)
New central cogeneration plant: $31 million
New parking structures: C1 (2,000 spaces) and C2 (1,000 spaces)
Airside and Ancillary facilities
Working closely with airport executives, our firm developed budgets and schedules for alternative and final concepts throughout the master planning phase and provided relevant information to present to stakeholders, such as county supervisors and funding agencies.
During the design phase program, we provided project controls services including scheduling, cost, budget management and BIM clash detection analysis. We were also responsible for evaluating and developing business processes for delivering construction projects, work breakdown structure, software solutions and training all staff and consultants.
In the construction phase, we provided on-site program controls and evaluated, selected and implemented electronic Project Management (ePM) software for the owner. Our use of risk register and ongoing cost control contributed to 40% program savings compared to the initial budget.
