The SPMI Project of the Year Awards honour outstanding completed projects from Singapore. SNC-Lavalin acquired Faithful+Gould, part of WS Atkins plc on July 3, 2017.
“It’s a great honour to win SPMI’s most prestigious award with the FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX project. We have been involved as the Engineering Project Manager of the FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX for several years and have successfully managed and delivered the infrastructure for this major event that brings huge social and economic benefit to Singapore. Capitalising on our experience and lessons learnt over the years, we are proud to work with our client to deliver one of the most exciting events in Singapore, and continuously enhance the experience for the spectators from around the world. Close collaboration with our client and the hard work and dedication of our team have been essential to the successful delivery of this project,” commented René Hillig, director for South East Asia at SNC-Lavalin’s Faithful+Gould business.
Held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, it is the only night-time street race in the Formula 1® calendar, attracting an average of over 254,000 spectators annually since its debut in 2008. Faithful+Gould is responsible for overseeing the seamless construction and removal of the 5.065 km street racing circuit and supporting facilities such as lighting, grandstands and corporate facilities. Although construction begins four months before the race takes place, this is a year-round project that requires meticulous planning, careful scheduling and extensive communication and collaboration with race promoter Singapore GP Pte Ltd and multiple stakeholders, to ensure timely delivery.
SNC-Lavalin’s Faithful+Gould business will continue to provide project management services for the world-class event following Singapore GP Pte Ltd’s four-year contract extension to host the FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX up to 2021.
