Winning a project management award is exciting, especially when it’s for the FORMULA 1® SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX project. But racing cars are only one part of an exciting portfolio of projects managed by Faithful+Gould.

No one understands the opportunity better than Kenny Ng, head of the project management team in Faithful+Gould Singapore. Kenny joined Faithful+Gould in 2013 after spending many years working as a project management consultant in the building industry. With his training as a mechanical engineer, he has been able to successfully apply his knowledge and experience in sectors like banking and finance, IT, data centres, logistics and pharmaceutical, for both public and private sector clients. In his 20-year career in the construction industry, these projects have encompassed new build to fit out to asset enhancement initiatives.

He quickly discovered that the diversity of projects that Faithful+Gould had to offer has provided him with more satisfying challenges and personal growth than he could have imagined. “As a project manager at my core, getting to the bottom of a complex problem is something I find interesting, and the more challenging, the better,” Kenny says. He adds that the opportunity to work alongside and learn from other seasoned professionals in the firm over the years has been instrumental in making him a better project manager and a better leader.

One of Kenny’s strategies in building a team that excels in this field is to first identify and attract the best talent available and then provide them the necessary support, training and guidance that each project manager needs to excel in their service delivery.

Faithful+Gould project managers are trained to think commercially so that they gain an appreciation of how their individual work makes a collective impact on the goals of their own business line and the wider company.  If interest is shown in getting involved in business development, they may also be involved in activities such as maintaining existing client relationships and developing new ones, and the bid development process itself.

“What excites me about working in Faithful+Gould is the opportunity to be an active contributor to the success of the business,” Kenny says. “Increasing the capabilities of the team – along with my own – is one way we can achieve this.”

“The Faithful+Gould culture which focuses on your career and professional development is really progressive in our industry,” Kenny says. “There is a real focus on your growth which starts with identifying where your interests lie, which then leads to the development of a career strategy that helps your realise your full potential. In short, there is a real desire to support you in raising your game as a professional project manager.”

He added that Faithful+Gould are a close-knit community where teamwork is important and open communication is encouraged between all levels of seniority.
