Construction of a new 'flagship' HSBC branch in Singapore over two levels, involving replacing the façade of the podium block, creation of a new data center, relocation of a 70-position trading floor from level 2 to level 3 of the building, implementation of structural alterations to basement and conversion into usable space. As project managers we coordinated a number of sub-projects incorporating various contractors, suppliers and employers' 'direct' contractors in order to achieve completion within the tight and precise time frame set by the operational needs of the client.
The approach was to create a new data centre with the migration of equipment from within the existing building and other facilities around Singapore. The design of the data centre had to comply with stringent corporate standards. A trading floor operating 24/7 had to be relocated from one level to another to make way for the new branch. The relocation of the trading floor was carried out over a very short timescale of a 'three-day weekend'. The new HSBC branch opened as planned with no business disruption.
