Faithful+Gould’s leading sustainability consultant in the Middle East has been invited to speak at the MEED Green Buildings Conference in Doha, Qatar, on March 18, 2009.

Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, the Conference provides an overview of Qatar's green building opportunities, guidelines, and future regulatory framework.

Abdel Khan has been instrumental in spearheading Faithful+Gould's sustainability initiative in the Middle East. His presentation, entitled ‘Evaluating Sustainability within the Built Environment', will look at green building ratings systems covering a range of topics including:

  • What green building ratings systems are and how they differ to regulations;
  • Factors to consider when selecting an appropriate green building rating system; and
  • Why certification should be pursued.

Abdel will also provide an overview of green building rating systems being utilised in the Middle East.

Abdel Khan said: "Sustainability is an increasingly important part of any building project, from the design to actual construction and operation, it is essential for everyone involved to be aware of the issues and legislation surrounding this increasingly important area. There are some big construction plans in place for Qatar over the next few years, and sustainability will play a significant role in urban development. It's an exciting time for construction in the Middle East, and I'm looking forward to speaking at the Conference and discussing these issues with delegates further."
