The sponsorship comes as one of many initiatives undertaken as part of the company’s regionwide ‘70 days of giving’ campaign.
Spencer Wylie, KSA Country Director, said “Employee wellbeing is extremely important and we encourage all our employees to get involved in sporting and community activities where possible to build and maintain not only physical but also mental health. Clubs like Naomh Alee GAA create a sense of community amongst expatriates and with some of our employees regularly playing we decided to give back by sponsoring.”
Naomh Alee GAA Club in Riyadh operates as the sole Saudi Arabian GAA Club in the Kingdom, with Men’s, Ladies and Juvenile Football and Hurling activities ongoing. The club is a founding member of the vibrant Middle East GAA League and the longest established GAA Club in the region, having been established back in 1994.
Notwithstanding the social and environmental challenges of the region, the Naomh Alee Men and Ladies teams contest the Middle East League and Championships, regularly bringing silverware back onto the peninsula from the hotly contested tournament events.
Commenting on the Faithful+Gould affiliation with the club, Middle East GAA Chairman, Patrick Moynagh said, “The challenge for expatriate GAA Clubs is to stay relevant to their local communities and developing our clubs culturally and socially in places that are often very different to the parish ‘back home’”.
“At the same time, we need to remain competitive in competition. Affiliations with companies like Faithful+Gould, who share our values of loyalty to members and a progressive ‘can-do’ outlook, makes delivery against these goals all the more achievable. We are very grateful to the F+G team for their valuable support.”
