Faithful+Gould was appointed as cost consultant for the new Atkins designed residential ‘2CDE' development in Dubai. When complete, the development will be a prominent landmark at the Dubai Marina, the city's major new cosmopolitan waterfront development. The 27 storey, 116m tall tower will contain a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom serviced apartments, 2 penthouses and 8 duplex townhouses. The 33,642m2 development also contains a pool deck and health spa. Commissioned by the Ahmed Ramadhan Juma Establishment, 2CDE is due for completion in May 2010 and will be operated by the Marriott Hotel Group as Dubai standard ‘Luxury' (5 star).
Sustainability has been weaved into 2CDE's design. Clear glazing will be used on the exterior of the building. The glazing incorporates electro-coating (or ‘e-coating'), and will withstand the thermal impact of Dubai's high summer temperatures. It will also allow maximum natural light in - reducing the need for electricity. Shading technology, including a ‘sun screen wall', will also counter solar gain while enhancing the design.
