Masdar is an initiative by the Abu Dhabi Government to construct a carbon neutral sustainable city harnessing the latest green technology in Abu Dhabi and will be the world's first zero-carbon, zero-waste car-free city.
With a site area approximately 6 square kilometres; the project will be developed in 3 phases, become home to 50,000 residents, have an eco-cluster of 1,500 green businesses and will create 70,000 jobs.
Faithful+Gould has been engaged on the project on several fronts: General Quantity Surveyor services (cost estimating and cost reporting) for the Head Quarters building, Project 1, Masdar Institute of Science & Technology (MIST) in addition to a number of satellite projects around the site and reviewing the first phase of the new master plan.
Due to Faithful+Gould’s partnering and flexible approach with Masdar, we was commissioned to provide continued support in relation to the build out of Phase 1 of the master plan and cost management services such as setting budgets for buildings and infrastructure for the whole city for use in Masdar’s development appraisal and business model. Furthermore we have also assisted in the production of their cost management processes and procedures that will be rolled out over the whole life cycle of the project.
