Faithful+Gould was appointed by Atkins to provide cost management for the Taaleem Flagship School Campus in Dubai. This prestigious development of 153,753m² total built up area will be first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accredited school in the region and comprises complete educational facilities from crèche to junior college including staff and student accommodation and sports facilities. The campus will be located within the prestigious Dubailand development, 30km south of Dubai, and will be the first of its kind in the Middle East. It will provide a world class centre of educational excellence that will deliver a holistic educational journey from early childhood to early adulthood.
The master plan allows 55,105m² of land for roads, footways and green areas and 46,452m² for parking. The majority of the parking facilities will be located beneath the campus sports pitches. Key facilities provided on campus include:
- Full educational facilities from crèche to junior college
- Indoor and outdoor sport facilities
- Performing arts centre
- Student/teacher and visitors' accommodation
- Client’s headquarters
The approach was to achieve project programme targets for the various phases, maintain client budget and expedite the process to produce accurate estimate and tender information. Challenges included estimating key sustainability issues within extremely challenging budget and timescales – this project is the first of its kind in the Middle East.
