Quantity surveying and cost management services for a major Reading regeneration scheme are to be provided by project and cost consultants Faithful+Gould.

The development is in the town centre at Chatham Place, Chatham Street. It is a mixed use scheme designed to expand Reading city centre by decking over a 300m section of the Inner Distribution Road to create a site of 6 acres and is being constructed in a number of phases.

Overall, the £250 million scheme calls for demolition of two derelict multi-storey car parks (already underway) and the construction of 1.2 million square feet of residential, hotel, leisure, commercial and retail accommodation. It includes the provision of 1,000 car parking spaces. The development also provides significant additions to the public realm including two new public squares and a public swimming pool.

The project is being undertaken by Amec Developments who are entering into a Development Agreement with Reading Borough Council. Work is scheduled for completion in 2010.
