Graduate Application Process

Suzanne Hatswell
We currently have graduate opportunities across project management, building surveying and quantity surveying. Applicants are required to have a 2:1 degree in surveying or a construction related discipline but we will also encourage applications from non cognate degree holders to broaden our diversity.

As a graduate, this is an opportunity to join a global company with great strength and a culture of progression. Access to graduate jobs can be gained via our careers page.

Making your application

When making an application you will be asked to upload your CV and fill in an application form. Please ensure that all relevant details (including university modules) are included in your application. We recommend that you review your application before submitting it as changes are not allowed at a later stage.

You will have a login and password so you can save your progress and return to complete it later. We give you 14 days to complete your application from the day you start it. If you don't complete your application within this time your application will be withdrawn.

Candidates may only complete one application form per recruitment cycle - any subsequent application forms will be automatically identified by our recruitment system and not processed.

All vacancies will initially close on Friday 31st January 2014.

Candidates may only complete one application form per recruitment cycle - any subsequent application forms will be automatically identified by our recruitment system and not processed.

All vacancies will initially close on Friday 31st January 2014. We recommend you submit your application as soon as possible as although we have a closing date for our vacancies we actively screen and assess candidates as they apply.

Psychometric test

After submitting your application form, you will be invited to complete a numerical and verbal online test. These will take around 45 minutes to complete. You can complete these tests at a time to suit yourself, but we do give you 7 days to complete the tests from the day you are sent the link, after which your application will be withdrawn. Do keep an eye on your emails/account once you have submitted your application to ensure you don’t miss out.

Testing tips

  • You will have the option of completing practice questions for each test which we would strongly encourage you to do. The practice tests will help you to prepare for the real test by familiarising you with the format of the questions and how to answer them.
  • Make sure you set a time when you are free from distractions. It is unlikely we will be able to let you retake the tests if you have been distracted by your mobile phone for example.

Briefing call

If your application is successful after being reviewed, you will be called by a graduate advisor to discuss your application in more detail and confirm the position and location you are being considered for. The advisor will also talk with you about your skills and interest in Faithful+Gould and answer any questions you may have. If you are not able to speak with the advisor when they call, you will be offered an alternative date and time.

Graduate assessment centre

If you are invited to attend our graduate assessment centre, you will be invited by email and asked to confirm your attendance. We would like to emphasise that our assessment centres are very much a two way process. Obviously we will be assessing you for a role with us, but it’s also a key opportunity for you to consider whether Faithful+Gould is the right place for you.

Where possible, our assessment centres are held in the office you’ve applied for. For some of our smaller regional offices though, this is not always possible.

Timings

Assessment centres usually take place between 9am - 5pm and as well as the assessments you will have the opportunity to meet some of our graduates and managers. We will also ensure you are fed and have access to plenty of tea and coffee!

What to expect

The assessments will include an interview with our managers from the relevant business area. There will also be a number of behavioural exercises which have been designed to assess the competencies we look for in our graduates across the whole of the Atkins Group.

Travel, accommodation & expenses

If you require accommodation or flights, please contact graduates@atkinsglobal.com who will arrange this for you. On the day you will be given an expense form so you can claim other reasonable expenses incurred, so please keep your receipts.

Decisions

We will let you know the outcome of your assessment as soon as possible, and before you leave we will give you a timeframe so you know when to expect to hear from us. When decisions have been made, we will contact you by phone or email and make you aware of next steps depending on the outcome.
