Faithful+Gould Supports the National Citizen Service for Warrington Youth Club Students

Faithful+Gould is working in partnership with Warrington Youth Club to support National Citizens Service (NCS).

NCS was launched in 2011 to encourage young people aged 16 and 17 to meet new people, gain new skills and make a positive difference to the community. Over 3,500 young people have completed the programme in Warrington to date.

In week two the young people attend a residential programme based at the University of Chester. During this week the young people are encouraged to find out more about Warrington and their local community.

"It was great to engage with the young people, to hear their views and hopefully inspire them to consider careers in the construction and engineering sector."

Claire Danby, Faithful+Gould Associate Director

It is this part of the programme that Faithful+Gould has supported in their local offices at Birchwood Park. Over a six week period the company has provided over 60 young people with an overview of the exciting and challenging projects the company has been engaged with. Time was also spent discussing the challenges their generation face with depleting resources, climate change and increasing population and how this will impact on design. Each group session involved a practical activity with the students taking on roles from quantity surveyor to building surveyor to project managers to build a bridge.

Dave McNicholl, Warrington Youth Club CEO, comments: "I would like to thank everyone at Faithful+Gould who have worked so closely with Warrington Youth Club to compile an excellent session for young people engaged on the National Citizen Service. The feedback that we have received from staff and young people has been extremely positive. We are hoping to work with Faithful+Gould to offer some of the young people longer term opportunities to learn more about the work of the company. The support of Faithful+Gould is really important to Warrington Youth Club as we strive towards our aim of becoming an OnSide Youth Zone."

Claire Danby, associate director at Faithful+Gould, adds: "It was great to engage with the young people, to hear their views and hopefully inspire them to consider careers in the construction and engineering sector."
