"This is a fantastic facility which will give pupils the perfect environment to learn and grow."
Cllr Gareth Jones, Carmarthenshire County Council's Executive Board Portfolio Holder for Education and Children
The creation of the 1,200 pupil school ensures that the current and future educational needs of the locality are met and that the school will support the future development and growth of the communities of Carmarthenshire.
As well as providing the required teaching and education facilties to support children in the local area, the communities ability to make use of the school's facilities was also a key driver behind the project. The sport facilities will be used by the local community for a variety of sporting activities and partnering schools can benefit from the use of the school's vocational catering facilities. A SEN provision also provides purpose built teaching accommodation for children that have additional learning needs.
Sustainability was at the heart of the project with the school designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating and an Energy Performance Certificate rating of A.
Faithful+Gould's project team worked closely with Carmarthenshire County Council as well as in partnership with the Welsh Government through its 21st Century Schools programme, to understand the requirements of the school to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
