Barnsley is now home to a flagship store for the HBOS plc, a 856m2 property over three floors in the town centre. HBOS acquired a building that had previously been a fast food outlet and with Faithful+Gould's help effected a complete transformation. Our quantity and building surveyors visited the unit prior to acquisition, and provided HBOS with a condition report. This gave detail of the works required to bring the building up to standard, and a budget cost for undertaking the renovations and fit out.
Works commenced in 2 phases, the first to strip out and repair the building, the second to fit out to HBOS requirements. Phase 1 included: Repairs to the roof and façade, replacement of cracked windows to the 2nd floor, fire protection to the internal structural beams, general cleaning throughout, strip out of the existing electrical and mechanical installations. Phase 2 followed in January, and involved the full replacement of all ground and 1st floor windows and the installation of secondary glazing throughout the top floor. The replacement of the façade granite was also undertaken, as well as the installation of a passenger lift.
