Faithful+Gould’s Health & Safety (H&S) team was appointed by Leeds Trinity University to assist the delivery of the Asymptomatic COVID-19 Testing Site within their existing gymnasium.
The Testing Site was launched as a way to support students’ safety, as part of the Government’s UK-wide drive to increase the availability of mass testing. We have worked closely with Leeds Trinity University and in partnership with the NHS and Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to successfully deliver the project.
Although challenged by very short delivery timescales, our high calibre consultants worked in partnership with the University to ensure the success of this project in as little as two weeks. During this period, we mobilised a highly skilled and competent project team, and supported Leeds Trinity as they recruited and trained a workforce and developed and implemented a booking system. We also oversaw the testing site delivery, which was completed in just four days by the University’s Estates and Facilities team and its supplier partner.
Our H&S team immersed themselves as part of the University’s integrated team and worked together to contribute to the development, coordination and management of everything from developing communications and engagement plans, carrying out risk assessments, mobilising contractors and arranging clinical waste, to running the site and supervising the testing process.
The on-campus testing centre was launched and fully operational on 30th November 2020 to provide students with the opportunity to get tested and safely return home for Christmas. It will reopen in January for the Test to Return programme.
