The Beeston Town Centre development acts as a gateway into the centre of the Nottinghamshire town of Beeston, revitalising this area and contributing to wider regeneration. Named The Square, the new-build mixed-use scheme comprises an eight-screen cinema complex, retail units, 132 homes and high-quality public realm.
Centred on the flagship cinema complex, the only new cinema in Broxtowe borough, the Square accommodates national and local retailers, restaurants and bars, and aims to boost business in the town, reviving the area’s night-time economy.
The leisure building was designed around the specific requirements of prospective tenants, whereas the residential element of the scheme needed to realise the best commercial value. Maximum flexibility for residential developers has been incorporated, whilst establishing a cohesive design vision consummate with the leisure block.High quality public realm, with hard and soft landscaping to create vibrant public spaces, ties the two parts of the site together.
Faithful+Gould has a long history of working with Broxtowe Borough Council, and this close relationship brings familiarity with their preferred ways of working. Faithful+Gould has provided project management, cost management, CDM advisory and party wall surveyor services to Broxtowe Borough Council. We tendered the publicly funded project in compliance with OJEU and Public Contract Regulations, using restricted tendering to secure a local contractor with specific cinema experience.
The management of the NEC4 contract has been extremely complicated to administer, due to the huge numbers of stakeholders involved. Typically this high level of complexity can lead to delays, budget over-spend or unnecessary risk. Excellent project management skills have been used to alleviate these risks, assisted by Sypro construction management software. The software has helped us to manage the complexities and to keep construction contracts running efficiently and compliantly.
