Birmingham International Airport Departure Lounge Expansion – Phase 1

Faithful+Gould provided a combined project management, quantity surveying and planning supervision service to Birmingham International Airport for their £14.6 million Phase 1 expansion of the existing T1 Departure Lounge. This project is the first of a number of phases to be undertaken as part of the terminals expansion over the next few years.

Phase 1 consisted of: Expansion of the existing departure lounge to provide additional retail outlets at 1st floor level, extension of the immigration and baggage reclaim halls on the ground floor, construction of the first section of a new International Pier linking the departure lounge with the gates, provision of a new gate lounge at Gate 56. Faithful+Gould brought expertise and experience gained from working at Birmingham International Airport over a number of years. The project was ambitious in terms of programme, with urgency required to meet the needs of this rapidly expanding airport. Faithful+Gould overcame the challenge of keeping the airport operational at all times. Bringing rigorous management and planning skills to the project, we proved ourselves to be the right partners to the design team for a successful outcome.
