Cambridgeshire County Council, Capital Build Programme

Since 2010, Faithful+Gould has been working with Cambridgeshire County Council, leading a team in the design and delivery of all their capital projects. Our integrated services includes lead consultant, project management, cost management and health & safety services. The works include the construction of education and community new buildings, including the refurbishment of existing buildings to suit current and future requirements.

A robust two-stage tender process ensures that excellent value for money is achieved. Stakeholder and programme management, together with tight financial control throughout project duration, has resulted in schools being handed over on time and within budget. A selection of successfully completed projects is shown below:

  • Trumpington Meadows Primary School, Cambridge: New two-form entry (2FE) primary school completed in June 2013.

  • St John’s Primary School, Huntingdon: Seven-classroom extension completed in August 2013.

  • Cambourne Village College: New 5FE secondary school completed in September 2013.

  • The Shade Primary School, Soham: New 1FE primary school (with planned additional works to extend school to 2FE provision) completed in November 2013.

  • Thorndown Primary School: 3FE primary school block and infant school refurbishment completed in March 2015.

Faithful+Gould currently has 15 schemes on site, some of which are scheduled for completion in time for the commencement of the autumn term 2015, with the remainder completing during 2016. A further 15 projects are either at feasibility or detailed design stage. The schools programme will provide 14,000 additional pupil spaces to meet the needs of the fast-expanding Cambridgeshire population.
