The National College for High Speed rail has been created to produce a new generation of highly-skilled professionals to lead Britain’s future high speed rail workforce. The college provides training and work experience to learners aged 18 and above in all aspects of what makes a modern railway extending from engineering to creating great passenger experiences, innovation and design.
The impressive 7,000m2 triple-height building, hosts a teaching and workshop space internally, with a train inspection pit to enable students to inspect and maintain the full size high speed train, which has been located on site permanently. Externally there is a 150 metre long section of railway and overhead lines, showcasing various types of railway track construction. The college specialises in traction, rolling stock and advanced manufacturing.
Faithful+Gould was appointed by Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council to provide project and commercial management services to support the delivery of the prestigious College.
The project has already obtained a BREEAM Excellent rating at the design stage assessment. It was awarded Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber 2017 - Digital Construction.
