Fieldfisher, Aspen House, Birmingham

This fast track project saw Fieldfisher relocate to new open plan offices in the centre of Birmingham following the merger with specialist business law firm Hill Hofstetter.

The project was a CAT B design and build fit-out undertaken over a 7-week period. The works included: forming a suite of eight new meeting rooms on the ground and first floor, a new catering kitchen, staff tea-point and upgraded WCs as well as new open plan offices and IT for approximately 70 staff.

To overcome the challenging timescales and ensure successful project delivery within budget, to programme and the highest quality, Faithful+Gould worked closely with the client's FM Team and the fit-out contractor to put in place short lines of communication and a structured engagement process with all the project’s stakeholders.

The structured engagement process was therefore characterised by weekly face-to-face site meetings with the client, the contractor and its design team, as well as weekly progress reports and conference calls with the client to advise on overall progress, achievement of key milestones, future activities in the next period, risks, client decisions and information required by all parties.

The construction process was then framed by integrated working, risk management and relational contracting that saw potential client and contractor issues being dealt with proactively by all parties in a spirit of mutual trust and cooperation.

The £300,000 fit-out was completed on budget and within timescales enabling the client to decant its former offices before the end of the lease.

Faithful+Gould provided employers agent, health & safety advice and a cost manager role on this project.
