The Apron Development Project (ADP) was an essential part of London City Airport's operational improvements programme. This complex civil engineering project provided infrastructure enhancements to allow the new generation of larger aircraft to land at London City. A piled matrix was built into the King George V dock, with tie-ins to the existing airfield systems and logistics. Approximately 19,500m2 of pre cast and in situ concrete slab was required for the airfield apron, founded over the dock.
The project also included a runway link and the associated supporting infrastructure. This provided 4 aircraft stands to accommodate a mix of aircraft, with a new pier and gate lounges to handle the increased vloume of passengers.
Value of project: £22.75 million. Services: Full commercial services including estimating, site based pre- and post-contract administration.
