Value: £7.5m: Park Campus is a Pupil Referral Unit providing 110 places for pupils aged 11-18 years, as well as housing the Behaviour and Education Support Teams (BEST) for the London Borough of Lambeth's Behaviour Improvement Programme (BIP). It is the first new-build educational facility of its kind to be built in England for a generation. The new building was designed by Ellis Williams Architects and built by Apollo Education. Faithful+Gould provided project management and construction administration services on behalf of the London Borough of Lambeth for the duration of the project, which was completed in November 2008.
The site is designed with a clear break between the pupils and the BEST staff, so ensuring that the pupils have a proper sense of being part of a school, whilst having the support of the teams available to them. The new site has a science laboratory, food technology classrooms and a multi-media suite, so that a broad curriculum can be offered as well as appropriate specialist support. All classrooms are equipped with whiteboards, projectors, audio systems and ClassPads. The site has high-quality facilities available for wider community use outside school hours, including a high-tech Astroturf pitch, a fully equipped mini gym and a multi-use area that can be used for sports, meetings and as a performance hall.
